Volunteering

Peace & Reconciliation Group was founded by volunteers, and for the first 7 years of the organisation it was run entirely by volunteers. With this in mind, we have always maintained a space and role for volunteers and appreciated the commitment and value which they add to our organisation. Their knowledge, abilities and help has always made a great contribution to the various projects which they worked on.

We are able to provide placements for a total of 4 volunteers annually. Each placement is for a limited 3 month period. We usually work with 2 local volunteers and 2 international volunteers in a 12 month period.

We endeavour to provide the best possible quality volunteer placements possible, and we have a volunteer policy, a volunteer role description, and a timeline and specific tasks for our volunteers  which are designed to be as mutually beneficial as possible.

Each volunteer has different skills and expertise, we recognise this and attempt to tailor their placement to suit this, however most volunteers will work closely with the Project Officer, assisting with organising and delivering whatever project coincides with their placement. They will also spend some time with the Director, shadowing him on his daily work and if are any training is being delivered by our organisation which could be relevant or useful, our volunteers are very welcome to take advantage of them.

Unfortunately to accommodate all the inquiries and requests we receive we have a waiting list for placements, which is currently for just over 18 months.
