Citizenship, Social, Civic & Political Education (L2)

Course:
This course is designed to develop an understanding of the principles of equity, diversity and inter-dependence within the framework of active citizenship. It provides participants with the skills, knowledge and confidence to mainstream these principles into their everyday practice.
Aims:
- Explore the meaning of citizenship, civic engagement and rights and responsibilities in the context of Northern Ireland,
- Understanding governance in Northern Ireland,
- Explore the meaning and implications of the mainstreaming of Equity, Diversity and Interdependence into practice,
- Explore relevant issues in relation to diversity and its management,
- Develop an understanding of the impact of stereotyping, prejudice, discrimination and sectarianism, and
- Enable people to work positively with diverse individuals and groups.
