Course
Aims:
This course reviews personal, social, civic and political education
in Northern Ireland.
Course
Objectives:
By the end of the course, participants will have gained knowledge of
new developments in Community Relations Work.
Been made aware of the core elements of a Social, Civic and Political
Education Programme designed for Northern Ireland.
Have participated in experiential learning of new training material
designed to deliver a Social, Civic and Political Education Programme
Who
For:
It is designed for individuals who want to learn about Citizneship and/or
youth workers and tutors who wish to deliver a citizenship program.
The
Course Content:
Participants will be encouraged to discuss the meaning of Democracy,
Government, Constitutions, Human Rights, Citizenship and Civil society
in relation to developing programmes for different age ranges in the
formal and informal education processes.
The
group will be expected to participate in an experiential learning process
to test out training materials that can be applied to different age
groups.
The
content of the programme is flexible and can be adapted to allow for
participative involvement in structuring learning outcomes.
