day Introductory Training Workshop
For
those involved in group work or in leadership roles
The
aim of this workshop is to enable participants to develop and enhance
their facilitation skills.
Course
objectives:
· To introduce participants to the theory and practice of facilitation
skills
· To teach group processes and methods of working in a group
setting
· To teach the basic skills of facilitation and enhance existing
skills
· To apply these skills in a number of settings
· To allow participants to reflect on their own facilitating
skills
· To examine methods of handling conflict in groups
· To introduce methods of evaluation in a group setting
Who
For ?
This workshop is for those who work in a group setting and who wish
to enhance their effectiveness by acquiring and developing facilitation
skills.
It is aimed at:
· Community Workers
· Teachers
· Youth Workers / Social Workers
· Supervisors and Managers
· Trainers
· Development workers
Methods
The workshop will be participative and through small working groups
participants will be able to acquire and practice the skills of facilitation.
A complete set of handout material including a group session checklist
will be provided for participants.
At the end of this two day workshop participants will;
· Have learned a range of facilitation skills

Have had the opportunity to practice these skills
·
Have examined theoretical perspectives of group dynamics
·
Have improved their communications and listening skills
·
Have gained confidence to work in a group setting
·
Have examined the process of planning and evaluation
·
Have identified their strengths and weakness in facilitation
