Press release on behalf of Foyle Interface Monitoring Forum

The Foyle Interface Monitoring Forum wish to condemn the incident this weekend when part of the Peace Wall was knocked down at The Fountain - Bishop Street Interface and the paint attack on the First Derry Presbyterian Church. We wish to stress that these isolated incidents have happened at a time when the overall number of incidents at interfaces across the city have been significantly reduced over the past two years.

This has been largely thanks to the diligent work of the community representatives who have given freely of their time and commitment to ensure that these types of sectarian incidents become a thing of the past.

We encourage all community representatives from the Fountain and Bishop Street to keep each other informed of anything that is taking place that may distract from the success of the past two year.

All sectarian incidents should be immediately reported to the PSNI and we ask that anyone with any information about the events of last weekend should contact the relevant authorities.
